Mentoring Programs

At the Martin Center, we believe mentorship is key to professional growth and success. Our programs provide meaningful connections for students and alumni at every stage of their journey, offering guidance, support, and opportunities to build lasting relationships in the communication field.

CommUnity Mentors – Peer Mentoring Program

Our peer mentoring program connects upper-level communication students with those early in their journey. Mentors offer guidance on coursework, internships, and navigating college life, while mentees benefit from insights from someone who has been in their shoes. It’s a great way to build connections, gain leadership experience, and strengthen our community. Register now to serve as a mentor or be a mentor in this program.

Mentoring in the Moment – Short-Term Career Support for Students and Alumni

Need quick career advice, interview tips, or guidance on a job transition? Mentoring in the Moment provides flexible, short-term mentoring for students and alumni seeking targeted, one-time sessions with experienced communication professionals. Participants are matched based on specific needs and areas of expertise, with sessions typically lasting about an hour. This program ensures accessible, timely support for alumni at various career stages and students at any level. Register now to participate in this program.

Mentor-Protégé Program – Building the Foundation for Professional Mentorship

Starting at the sophomore level, communication majors can apply for the Mentor-Protégé Program, which lays the groundwork for a meaningful mentoring relationship. Selected students complete a preparatory course before being matched with a mentor. Applications open each fall on the Hub, and registration requires approval from the Director of the Martin Center.

Martin Scholars – Advanced Professional Mentorship & Industry Exposure

In their final year, students can apply for the prestigious Martin Scholars Program, an immersive experience designed to bridge the gap between education and professional success. Scholars gain exclusive access to on-site company visits, one-on-one mentorship with industry professionals, and valuable networking opportunities. Applications open each spring, and selected students are automatically enrolled in Martin Center Connections to further enhance their experience.
